Here are some answers to common questions.

There are several ways you can donate:

  1. By credit card directly through Tithe.ly

  2. By Electronic Funds transfer

  3. By Email Money Transfer

  4. By kiosk onsite at St. Maurice Parish (coming soon)

  5. If the options above are difficult, it is still possible to donate by cash or cheque, please contact Claire Schultz 613-224-1892 or claire@stmauriceparish.com to make the arrangements.

We believe contactless giving is a more cost effective and convenient way of the future. Tithe.ly is our new parish data system. It will be where you register as a parishioner of St. Maurice Parish, make your financial contributions and your tax receipt will be issued from here.

Tithe.ly is secure. All financial information is encrypted and stored by their banking partner to PCI DSS Level 1 compliant standards. PCI DSS Level 1 compliance is a set of rules stated by credit card companies and audited by an independent third party. It is the highest possible rating one can get in the electronic payment processing industry. Additionally, Tithe.ly forces HTTPS for all transaction services using TLS.

During the pandemic, processes and policies have been altered to adhere to public health recommendations. This includes implementing strategies for social distancing to protect our staff, volunteers and parishioners. Donations can be made by credit card, email money transfer (EMT) or electronic funds transfer (EFT). These methods satisfy the Ottawa public health recommendations, diocesan regulations for secure deposits and allow more cost effective measures as we set ourselves up for the future. However, if the options above are difficult, it is still possible to donate by cash or cheque, please contact Claire Schultz 613-224-1892 or claire@stmauriceparish.com to make the arrangements.

We recognize that not everyone is comfortable with electronic giving. If you would like printed Parish envelopes, please contact the Parish office and we will provide a box for you.  It is also not necessary to use printed Parish envelopes - you may use a regular envelope instead.  Please clearly write your name and address on the front of the envelope with your enclosed donation. You may send in your donation by mail or drop the envelope at baskets at the back of the church when attending mass.

When you make a donation in tithe.ly, there is a dropdown menu which lists the special donations. Just add the amount you wish to donate. You will receive notifications of upcoming special donation dates through your app, via text message and on the website. There is a list of the Archdiocesan collection dates under the GIVE tab as well to assist you with your financial planning.

Thank you for your generosity! You can still use make a donation and receive a tax receipt.

The office has recorded all donations into Tithe.ly regardless of registration. When you register, the app will recognize your information and synchronize any previously recorded donations into your account.

Your tax receipt will be issued through your Tithe.ly account. Your account is the same as it was when using envelopes only now you are registered simply by name and not by a number. You can receive your tax receipt via email and it will be available to you much earlier in the tax season then previous years. You can also request your receipt be mailed.

While this new system may seem strange, in no way does this make your donation any less impactful, nor does it take away from your intention to give to the Lord and his Church.

During Mass, we encourage you to call to mind your online offering and spiritually unite it to the priest who will be offering the gifts of the people to the Lord.

Finally, in case you are worried about what others may think if they don't see you putting an envelope in or bringing money, don't worry about it! When we give, we are not called to display it for all to see. If we are wanting others to see us giving, then maybe we are giving for the wrong reasons, and we need to ask the Lord to help us re-align our motives.

We are more than happy to assist you! Please call the office at 819-918-6338 or email at office@stmauriceparish.com. You can also email our Operations Coordinator Claire directly claire@stmauriceparish.com. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
