An Invitation to Encounter the Living Water in October

By: Andrea Fitzsimons

Last year, I had the privilege to reflect on the small Women’s Rooted Retreat hosted at St. Maurice. It was an opportunity for women to gather and reconnect in faith after a long pandemic (see below).

As you may have heard, the invitation has been extended wider this year to all the women of St. Maurice for the Living Water Retreat on October 14th. It will be an experience to encounter Jesus, the Living Water. The hope is to build sisterhood through all generations. The day will include Mass, time for Adoration and Confession, reflection and creating something beautiful with Anna from the Flower Pantry. The cost is $60 and includes lunch and the floral arrangement.

The retreat will be blessed with a talented speaker from our parish, Megan Turland. Megan is a wife and mother of four on earth and one in heaven. She served as a missionary with Catholic Christian Outreach for over a decade, seeking the renewal of the world through the evangelization and leadership development of university students. She now has the privilege of educating her children at home full time. Megan has a passion for helping others encounter Jesus through her writing and speaking.

Megan will unpack the theme of Jesus, the Living Water, who meets the Samaritan woman at the well in the book of John. Megan will have many gems to share! As you read this, if you are a woman, I’d ask you to ponder the following from the story of the woman in the well and how it relates to you.

First, the woman at the well was perhaps advanced in age. For the retreat, ALL women are welcome! Single women, those with little babies, great grandmothers, and everyone in between. Please come with your varied life experiences.

Second, could you be ready to meet Jesus at the well for a retreat? It could be your first time or you may have visited the well several times. This experience can offer something different for all faith development levels. Water is a thirst quencher for everyone.

Lastly, we don’t know if the woman had friends or close neighbors lingering nearby when Jesus spoke to her. Is there someone you might want to go to the retreat with?

For any of the above questions you may be wanting to respond with a ‘yes’ to, a registration form is available by clicking here. The registration deadline is October 6th. Questions can be sent to livingwater.retreat2023@gmail.com.

I’m hoping you consider this opportunity to be renewed or that you encourage a woman in your life to attend.
