God has clearly been at work here at our parish in spite of COVID-19. Once again, we have many individuals who have responded to a call that God has placed on their hearts to draw them closer to Himself and His Church.
At the end of November, we celebrated the first step for several individuals in the RCIA program at St. Maurice as they became Catechumens and Candidates. RCIA stands for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, a rite that has existed in various forms since the early Church for those preparing to become Catholic. Catechumens are those who have never been baptized, and Candidates are those who are baptized Christians now seeking to become Catholic.
There are many steps along the RCIA journey leading up to Easter at which individuals express their desire to continue the journey and the Church recognizes their desire and readiness to so.
Last year, we journeyed with 15 individuals from various parishes in the area, and this year we are journeying with 10 individuals. Our RCIA team this year includes Dcn. Kevin, Kaelynne (who went through the RCIA the previous year), and Fr. Marcus.
Please continue to pray for our team and for all those who are seeking the sacraments this Easter:
