December 12 Parish Update

Archbishop Marcel Damphousse has been installed as the new Archbishop of our diocese of Ottawa-Cornwall.   Please keep him in your prayers.

Confessions are continuing to be held every Saturday from 3:00 to 4:00 pm. On December 19, Confession time will be extended for one additional hour, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.

Six of the seven Christmas Masses are now full; some spots may still be available for Mass at 1:00 pm on Christmas Day.

Mass will be livestreamed December 24 at 4:00 pm.

Due to COVID, the obligation to attend Mass on January 1 for the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God has been temporarily dispensed.

For those who wish to attend in person, three Masses will be held: December 31 at 5:00 pm (which will be livestreamed) and January 1 at 9:00 am and 11:00 am. The 11:00 pm vigil Mass will not be held this year. If you wish to attend one of these Masses, please register on the parish website.

The parish’s fundraising goal for December is $48 000. Please consider giving by registering for Electronic Fund Transfer on the parish website, via Tithely, by dropping off your envelope into one of the baskets placed at the exits of the church, or by mailing a cheque to the parish office. The parish appreciates your ongoing generosity, especially during this difficult time.

A letter will be mailed to parishioners in the coming week detailing the parish’s financial situation. Additionally, parishioners will be given the opportunity to continue requesting annual donation envelopes. Parishioners will also be able to transition to electronic giving.

The parish’s ongoing roof campaign has surpassed its halfway point, with $60 000 raised of $110 000. The major renovation of the roof is finished and ready for winter. The parish will continue to collect for this project until the end of June.

In lieu of on-site holiday fundraising projects, the parish website will be posting links to allow parishioners to support these annual projects.

December 12 is the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, patroness of the Americas and the unborn.

To participate in the parish’s Christmas Hamper project in partnership with St. Vincent de Paul, please contact the parish office or St. Vincent de Paul ministry. Direct donations to St. Vincent de Paul may also be made via Tithe.ly.

Prayer intentions and Christmas greetings may be sent to the parish office.
