On Saturday, February 21st, 36 of our grade 2 students celebrated their First Reconciliation. The boys and girls had been enthusiastically engaged at home all semester while participating in their Virtual First Reconciliation Preparation classes. A handful of energetic volunteers greeted families that day, assisting with parking, and welcoming and guiding families through our physically-distanced, indoor setup. All who came to help truly made it a smooth, special and safe experience for our families. The children arrived on the beautiful, sunny winter’s morning, dressed for a real celebration. When they left the atrium, they had exchanged their red paper hearts for white ones, a symbol to remind them that Jesus was there waiting for them with love, and had cleansed them from their sins and given them a fresh, clean start! The children also took home their very own votive candle to remind them that the Light of Christ is always with them, especially in the sacraments. Please join us in praying for our children and their families, as they now prepare to receive the sacrament of First Holy Communion in the Spring!
