At the Companions of the Cross Seminarian Commitment Mass on August 28, Fr. Isaac Longworth’s homily spoke of unity of mission and striving together as brothers, citing St. Paul’s example of the church at Thessalonica. The gathering of Companions priests, seminarians, and applicants provided a living example of such unity, striving to realise Fr. Bob’s vision of the Church coming explosively alive.

Mass was presided over by former St. Maurice Deacon now Fr. David Bergeron. More than 30 Companions priests, 11 seminarians, and four applicants gathered at St. Maurice on the Feast Day of St. Augustine. Companions General Super Fr. Roger Vandenakker oversaw the annual renewal of temporary promises by the Companions seminarians, including St. Maurice’s former seminarian intern Michael Horianopoulos.

The 10 other seminarians who renewed their temporary promises for the upcoming year are:

  • Dulitha Amarasingha
  • Eran Amarasingha
  • John Brundage
  • Gabriel Gauthier
  • Karl Hartman
  • Manas Khurana
  • Goerge Leberio
  • Matthew Marin
  • Sebastian Muggeridge
  • Tim Silver

After the Commitment Mass, the Companions announced a new Adopt-a-Seminarian initiative to help current and incoming Companions seminarians meet the financial needs of their vocation. Details will soon be available on the Companions website (companionscross.org).

Please pray for the Companions seminarians as they continue to discern and develop their vocation to the priesthood, the applicants who are beginning their vocation journey, and the Companions of the Cross priests who work so tirelessly to go forward as brothers to realise Fr. Bob’s vision of the Church coming explosively alive.
