“The devotion to the memory of the dead is one of the most beautiful expressions of the Catholic spirit.”
– Pope St. John XXIII
The Catholic Church devotes the entire month of November to the Holy Souls in Purgatory. Prayers for the faithful departed pleases God, who makes use of our prayers to help purify these souls that He loves. It is an act of charity that we can offer for those we have known and loved and for those who have no one else to pray for them.
During the month of November at St. Maurice, we place a Book of Remembrance near the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary where people can write the names of deceased loved ones and friends. This year, you are welcome to write the names in the book yourself, or alternatively, you may email these names to our office at office@stmauriceparish.com. We will then add these names to our ‘Book of Remembrance’.
At each Mass in the month of November an intention “for all of those mentioned in our Book of Remembrance” will be offered during the Prayers of the Faithful.
