Beware of Email Scams from Someone Pretending to be a Priest

There has been an increase in scams involving people pretending to be a priest you know, asking for money, gift cards or other help. Please be advised that no priest will send an email to parishioners asking for money, gift cards or other services. Scams often use the priest’s name but with a strange address and the message itself often does sound like the priest you know. Exercise caution whenever you receive an email from anyone you know that sounds suspicious. If in doubt, contact the priest using the parish’s email or phone number. Please be cautious. The scams are becoming more sophisticated.
